Miami Hospitals to Receive Additional Support as Hurricane Season Kicks Off

Florida hospitals prepare for hurricanes with ready access to medical equipment from US Med-Equip to care for patients at a moment’s notice

(MIAMI) — During last year’s destructive hurricane season, leading medical device company US Med-Equip delivered baby incubators and warmers, ventilators, monitors and other life-saving equipment to help Florida hospitals in the paths of storms. The state’s hurricane recovery efforts continue as the 2019 season begins, and healthcare providers in this region are doing everything they can to be ready for a season the NOAA predicts could bring up to four major hurricanes.

When the next hurricane forms in the Gulf or Atlantic, South Florida hospitals will have faster access to critical equipment as US Med-Equip, a partner of top hospitals in Florida and across the country, opens a new office in Miami.

The new Miami branch is part of US Med-Equip’s multi-million dollar investment in the state of Florida. Once the expansion is complete, US Med-Equip will have the densest coverage of any hospital rental provider in the Sunshine State. To keep up with record demand from regional providers seeking the highest quality movable medical equipment for patients in their care, US Med-Equip has opened offices in Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, and Pensacola. The Miami expansion ensures faster response times for southern Florida, which is especially important as hospitals brace themselves for the surging need for medical equipment should another storm strike.

“Although we have a lot of experience with storms because of our coverage throughout the Gulf Coast, no other state gets hit by hurricanes as often as Florida. With the opening of our Miami office, we can quickly reach the hospitals who need our service and support in this area,” US Med-Equip CEO Gurmit Bhatia said. “We are excited to join the Miami community so we can continue to grow and support the needs of regional hospitals and their staffs who are saving lives throughout this region—not only during hurricane season but year-round.”

US Med-Equip has 37,000 movable medical devices—including respiratory, neonatal, infusion devices and other movable medical equipment—available for rent at a moment’s notice from more than 30 locations nationwide. The Houston-based company also uses proprietary RFID technology proven to help healthcare providers efficiently use inventory and manage medical equipment, which helps hospitals reduce operating costs and apply savings to staffing and other critical needs.

“Treating the patients in their care is a responsibility our clients take very seriously, and they won’t let any forces hinder their quality of care,” US Med-Equip COO Ed Gay said. “Our partner hospitals take no chances and count on us for their medical equipment rental, sales, delivery and service needs, so they can continue to do what they do best: take care of patients in need.”
